MAD organizó e invitó a 11 firmas internacionales de arquitectos para llevar a cabo un experimento urbano para diseñar el centro huaxi de la ciudad de guiyang al sureste de china. los arquitectos invitados son atelier manferdini, BIG, dieguez fridman, emergent/tom wiscombe, houliang architecture, JDS, MAD, mass studies, rojkind arquitectos, serie y sou fujimoto.

how not, if the little chinese technician could make concrete cantilever 50m to hold 500 men and as far as i know they assure lots of koolhaas’s projects come to real, this should be peace of cake, to dress up building just by landing a sheet on it. but what woories me is that it’s earthquake area. that looks like it’ll crash with a breeze. i don’t see anything strong enough to support it. although that might be the idea

me parece que todos compiten entre si para ver quien hace mas “ruido”. Es absurdo, no hay coherencia, es como si hubiesen invitado a todas esas firmas a trabajar a ciegas sobre cada pedazo de parcela y presentar sus maximas extravagancias…por eso tantos de estos proyectos neo-post-modernista-hightech-starchitecture se quedan en el papel, o mejor dicho…en el render.

Even though I am American, I really hope China follows through on even one of these designs. They are making bold strides to becoming the architectural tour de force of the world, but much of it sadly remains on paper and computer renderings. It is time for China to show world leadership in the form of architecture, and they have the unique opportunity to make these gestures become real.
